Week Ten Reflection.

Week ten’s reflection well everyone the cast listed was posted on Thursday November 15th, my birthday, after postponing it twice and killing everyone inside who have been eagerly waiting for the listings. I also found out, as I writing this that my birthday was The Islamic New Year, just so everyone knew. Anyway turn out I didn't get the "Tommy or Jeff" I got a lesser role of "Angus McGuffey", he a well seen character and I get to work with my girlfriend in the play because my character and her character "Meg" are best friends and work together in the actual story of the musical, MY girlfriends character, the second female lead, which was exactly the part she wanted so I’m happy and proud for her its time she got some recognition because she a great actor and I knew all along that she'd get that part. She read so well for it and because she’s great at acting. I decided to start this Weekly Reflection like because I always get off topic when writing and so here I am writing about my personal life and at the beginning of the entire blog about chemistry and I’m kind of glad I am because it allows me to express and to let out what I’m thinking about all through the week. And for that I thank the great and amazing Mr. Abud for making his students start a blog because it really is for their own good it helps them type and allows them to tell their stories and we all need our stories to be told, because we’re all important and if were important and no one knows who were are then history will have no way of knowing what we’ve done or what our life was like. So everyone who has a way of getting their thoughts out, please don’t stop just left your thoughts go free, but make sure there yours. Ok now onto chemistry, in the beginning of each day of class… umm… You know? I can barely remember what we did ion class because of the musical, other than that we have a project due next Monday on the and we had to build a thermos and design a presentation for the project on like how we made it and what materials we used to make it. My partner was Richard and that’s what we did we built from a plastic bottle Styrofoam and aluminum foil and just covered the entire thing and right now it’s in a Styrofoam box so let’s see how it works. O0ther than that, I’m going to have to cut the reflection short sorry everyone and MR. Abud. Everyone have a great week.

Week Nine Reflection

Week nine was a great week and a terrible one at the same time. It was good because on Tuesday Nov. 6th we had no school because of Election Day. Sadly my birthday is this week on the 15th. So i missed the election by nine days. "Haha" that's kind of ironic because i missed Election Day by nine and I'm writing my week nine reflection. It's a bad joke... and it was bad because Obama won the election... and he actually wouldn't have one because of all the military votes got sent in a day late and they came in and were counted after the election was over. So in turn Romney should've been President and now we’re going to be converted to basically socialism. OK enough of the political crap, onto Chemistry. We started by talking about the relationships between different variables in experiments that we had performed in past chemistry. Using the inverse relationship formula we related pressure and volume. Also On Wednesday the Great Mr. Abud showed us how to use a new chart; it is called a PVTn Chart. I call it that because those were the symbols used on the top of the chart to label the places where we each number or data went. It was kind of hard to get at first with all the calculation, but my friend Richard helped me figure it all out. Richard is a good guy he's very smart, he can solve a “Rubix Cube” in about a minute I know you just to know the formula and sequences to solve it, but it must've taken a long to time to memorize it. It would mostly likely take me a year working on it every day to memorize the formula to answer that "evil-evil multi-colored cubed of confusion." We had to pick it up fast because the Great Mr. Abud was going to be testing us on it on Friday. I don't know how I could focus with this year’s musical auditions coming on Monday I practicing all weekend and this week. I want the role of Tommy or Jeff because they are the two main male leads. I’d be happy with any good speaking part, but you see the things is I never ad two characters so close to myself, I’ve never studied so much for roles I know the script and I just want to get a lead or a very well seen part because well it’s my senior year and I want to leave high school with no regrets. Plus I want to be able to show people what I can do as an actor, because the past few years it’s been nothing but cold reads meaning I’ve never got a chance to actually read the script. But this year things will be different. I fit great in both character Jeff and Tommy. I just have to be confident, and “leave myself at the door.” Its assaying we have in theater. Well it looks like I just let out all my feeling s in my blog. I guess that might be one of the reasons why the Great Mr. Abud wanted us to write these blogs not just for class but for I well being as well I never actually thought of it like that. Mr. Abud is so clever “haha”. I did pretty well on the test by the way, but didn’t have time to finish (2.04) and because the Great Mr. Abud is so gracious he is letting I reassess it. So until next sorry I didn’t talk so much about chemistry….

Week 8 Reflection

Week 8 Reflection, where half way through he weekthe start of a new month that contains my birthday.  Other than the new month it's was pretty normal week, we disscused the relationship between pressure and volume an pressure and temperature. Which later THE GREAT MR. ABUD ordered me to make a barometer, but we'll get to that later. When  the pressure of the system changes according to the vloume or space of  the particles  ovcupy  and move around. The pressure is high when the particles are trying to occupy a small area, and it's low when the pressure occupies a big area I mean volume, "Gezz it's hard making a change to science terms then just ur regular speakingvoice". It's kind of like learning another language the have many of the same words that are the same, the way you say them like in what tone of voice, that determines what they mean to say. Speaking of Chinese Mr. Abud gave us some equations that I involve "pressure fish 1/v, pressure fish volume, pressure fish (abs.)Temperature, and last volume fish temperature." I have a picture of these four equations, but I couldn't find out how to attach it onto my blog. On Friday Mr. Abud told us he was giving us an assessment, and I wasn't sure about and I asked Nathan another student in Mr. Abud and he had no idea, so when I got into the computer lab because mr. Abud said we be in there, all we did for the first half hour of class to get our new email. The last twenty minutes was the assessment And we got to work in groups which I found very good because we could draw our information for more people like of one person how to say one thing the other could help write it. Finally what you've been waiting for is that at the end of hour I takes mr. Abud about my blog and he not well shouted but talked firmly to me about making a barometer. Exact words were "Make a Barometer" I said I will and he said with who? Kelly. And he said ok that was defiantly a good end to the school day . I thank you Mr. Abud. Thank you.

Week Three Reflection

In week three we looked that importance of density, which correlate with what we did back in week 2 where we used mass and volume , and it appears that our measurements that we had taken last we is connected and we are using them for this week. We measured the many mass no weight because weight is gravity's affect on mass so be sure to use the term mass, because using weight in this situation is wrong. Anyway back to the class the graph we took on week two had a positive slope meaning as the mass increased the volume increased as well, which means there’s as connection between them. Since there is a connection it means our slope on the graph is the density. I heard someone else say that muscles weighs more than fat in mass. See I have heard that before but I had also heard that from one student shouting that out in class and I knew he wasn't right because I proved by looking it upon the web. It turn out that muscle doesn't weigh more than Fat it's just more dense. Saying something is dense and something that weighs more is much you can make an object more dense without altering the weight or mass and vice versa.  Later in the week we started studying how precise we need to be in our experiments because in the field of science if you’re off by just a little bit than your answer can be completely wrong from then on and you won't be accurate with your answer and there for you have the wrong information. And as many chemists' know, "One wrong calculation can be cause an explosion." Not to say all explosions are wrong calculations ha-ha.  I have to say if I had a job where blowing stuff up was what I did, I'd probably go home happy everyday that is to say no one blows up or gets falling debris or if they got caught in the blast that would be terrible.  I would never forgive myself if I had hurt someone even if it was by accident I wouldn’t be able to forgive myself. I'd only be able to make sure that it would never happen again. The accuracy is essential in science and in life accuracy is needed either to throw a ball or to set off an explosion that doesn't happen to go off in your face. So after all that off topic information, that gives you many reasons why you should be accurate with things. On Thursday and Friday the great Mr. Abud asked us to discuss the different densities of seven beverages water, apple juice, coke, sprite, fruit punch, oil, and Dr. Pepper. He told us to label 1 - 8 them from least to greatest in order of density. I thought sprite would be the least dense if we poured them into a glass of oil if they float or sink, depicting if it the liquid chosen had a greater or lesser density than the oil. I thought it was the sprite because of all the carbonation inside. Turns out I was wrong sprite was actually the 7th least dense. Oh well I suppose that all I can say about week three until next. Be accurtate!

Week Two Reflection

eek Two, we talked about matter, I have a brief understanding of matter and that it is something we can touch and see has matter. Even water has matter, though we can move through it.  I've always been fascinated by how things were made and why.  Being in this class gives me the opportunity to help how things work. we started an experiment in he back of the Mr. Abud's room where we lit  a can filled with methane and oxygen with two holes in it. One at the top and the bottom. The hole at the bottom where Mr. Abud filled the can with methane from the hole at the bottom of the can. We kept the methane from leaking out with a rubber stopper at the top hole.  The our great teacher put the can behind a plastic guard, removed the rubber stopper, took a match and lit hit on fire. It burst upward in a flame which I didn't expect at all. I thought it was the coolest tiny I've have ever done in a science class besides boat racing last year. You see last I was in physics call and we had to make boat float across the North pool and race a 50 (across once and back). All the boats were made of cardboard and duck tape.... I know "crazy right!?!?" how can something like that float... Nevertheless when it was time race our boats preformed honorably, although there were a few that capsized and life guards had to get them from the bottom from the pool everyone gave them a round of applause for their strong swimming. I've gotten off topic. Back to Chemistry the flame. The flame in can was at least 2 feet tall, but then Mr.Abud asked everyone what they would think when the methane fueling the flame runs out. I said, "It would just go pop" well that's what I thought; many people thought it was snuff itself out an nothing would happen. As the flame got smaller and smaller anticipation grew larger and larger until finally!!! BLAM!!!!!!!  a huge flare of fire came out of the can as like on the fourth of July at the very end of the fireworks there was a last huge bang!!!! And everyone cheers. The flare shocked me for a split second but i kind of knew that something like that would happen. that probably the best week of school so far that I can remember. After all of the excitement we started study how to get the volume and how it connected to the mass so using cylinder and prisms we took 5 measurements over all. We used the equation length time’s width time’s height and measured the volume. The graphed the measurements on an x-axis and y-axis the graph showed a direct relationship between volume and mass using metal cubes and rectangular prisms of different masses and sizes. The result... well... lets just say it was weird. That basically sums up what we did in week two so please keep reading my blog and await for next weeks blog im sure MR. Abud has some interesting ideas for it, just like this one.

Chem before after schoool week 1

Honors Chemistry with Mr.Abud. My friends told me that Mr.Abud would be an amazing teacher hes always coing up with new his to do.  Aslo they told me he would have very hard work each day for us.  As I've seen in this past week, the work wasn't necessarily hard, it just me think in a very different perspectuive of what i originally do.  He made us do an excercise where we were spl;it into groups and each group had four cards in all and we had to match them together in simalarity.  Turns out there were many different combinations that the cards could fit into. After all our conversing, Mr. Abud stepped in and said, "Have you guys come to a concensis?" we told him "yes, pretty much." and after he told us to go back to our seats. And he asked us a another question. "is there just one answer?" We told him "no." And then he said, it isn't the answer itself that matter its how you got to the answer that truly matters. It's like the movie. "walk hard" the Dewey Cox Story. Which is an all time halarious movie.
